Wet Pee-Wee's

We're back from a wet but wonderful week and a half at camp. We got to spend 4 days out of the 9 days at camp in the sun but the rest was very wet. Good thing fun doesn't stop at camp when it rains. It was good to be back up there, strange but good. There are so many new staff that we didn't know this year and they are all so young. The new generation is moving up. Some of the counselors could have been born in the 90's! How crazy is that? Yeah, pretty crazy. We lucked out on the week we went up because it happened to be the week that a bunch of people from our "era" of camp also decided to volunteer so we weren't the only strangers up there. My old youth pastor Al and his family were also there because he was the speaker so that was another bonus of our first week. Some of my highlights would have to be sailing, we got to teach every single block of sailing and we got some good wind on a few of those days. Another highlight would just be hanging out with old friends in a place that has meant so much to me over the years. It has changed a lot since I first started going there but it still has the same purpose. I also got to play with cute babies while I was there because there are a bunch of staff with babies, unfortunately I didn't get any pictures of them. The weekend in between our first week and these last couple days I went to Carmen's surprise shower. I think we got her pretty good, she didn't see it coming. It was a great shower, we laughed quite a bit and Carmen scored some sweet undies! The boys all went bowling and seemed to have a good time too.

The last couple days at camp were with the pee-wee's, so that means 5-7 year olds. They were pretty cute and the rain definitely didn't stop them from having a good time. Chris helped make a little video during pee-wee's and after one boy was interviewed by Toby the puppet he stood up and had a wet spot on his pants. I didn't want to say anything too him right away but I talked to his counselor later and he confirmed that the boy had peed his pants. I guess he got a little nervous being on camera. I also got to witness a boy throw up projectile hot dogs in the nurse's station, that one wasn't quite as funny. That camper ended up going home because he threw up about 5 more times after that, poor guy. Chris and I got to join the leadership staff in a secret BYOC (bring your own cup), which means we snuck into the program directors cabin after lights out and sat around candles eating ice cream floats. Chris and I were pretty much support staff for the senior staff, we got to join them in all their meetings and since they were the main people we knew it felt like that's where we should be. Yeah so all in all it was a really good time at camp.

We found out last weekend that we get to move into our place before going out to Herbert for the wedding so that's exciting. We get our keys tonight and move all our stuff tomorrow! It'll be good to actually be living in our own place and not feel like we're just on vacation. Tonight we're going to play games with all the Saskatchewan boys and their girls and Rebekah because that was the excuse for bringing Carmen back to her house last weekend but it turned out to be a surprise shower instead. So the busyness continues and will only continue until we are back from the wedding. Then I get to look for a job, hopefully I'll find a good one that works with Chris' TOCing so we don't have to get a second car. That would be swell. Alright, time to get things organized for tomorrow.

Pink toenails, rubber eggs and wristbands

Well, its about time I updated this thing. Just to let you all know, we are still alive and we made out to BC safe and sound. There have been many things going on these past couple days and the party only continues because we're headed up to camp for the next week and a half. It should be really good, there's a ton of old people from our "era" of camp that are just coming up for this week so it'll make it feel like the good old days. We can't wait to get up there.

Since we've been back we've had some time of relaxation and randomness and seeing friends. The first week back our old shed got torn down because it was rotting. It was pretty fun to watch it get ripped apart in 5 minutes by my brother's friend who owns a bobcat. Chris and my brother have now finished a new smaller shed in it's place and just have to build a fence so I'll show you the finished product when it's done. Here's what it looked like a few weeks ago...



The weekend after we got home, I helped my mom with a huge garage sale of stuff we have collected over the years. We sold over $400 worth but it was such a waste to have it on saturday and sunday because no one came on sunday, we only made about $10 that day. That weekend Chris had the privilege of driving all the way back to Herbert to pick up our car and the second car load of our stuff. We had way more stuff than we thought and had to make two trips and that's not even with furniture. It's crazy how much stuff you end up having after a year. On tuesday and wednesday night we went for a camping trip to Allouette Lake near Maple Ridge. It was a good relaxing time but it was really really hot. Good thing we had a lake to swim in. Chris thought it would be fun to swim in the creek that was right beside the lake but it was way colder so that didn't happen. Unfortunately our camera battery died so we only have two pictures of our trip. Just imagine a picture of a waterfall that we hiked to and us laying on the beach getting burnt in spots we missed with sunscreen.

Thursday night after we got back from camping we went over to see our friend Mark at the house he was housesitting. Him and his cousin made us a fancy supper and we took the strangest dog in the world for a walk. This dog was pretty funny, first of all his name was Dreyfus, who names their dog that and then he had pink toenails because the last housesitter decided to paint his nails. He really liked to sit in weird positions, I have a picture of one but the best one was when Chris would sit on the porch and Dreyfus would sit back to back with him with his bum on Chris' bum. Strange dog. But it made for an entertaining night. We also had some delicious smores that night, all in all it was a splendid evening.

On friday night we had another night of festivities. We went out to Langley and partied it up with the other Saskatchewan boys and their girls. We played some pro frisbee golf with actual putters and drivers. I had never heard of such a thing before but it exists. We couldn't quite find our way around the course that well but we made up some good spots. After that we headed back to Carmen's house and made some ice cream sundaes and then played "dancing eggs". It was a pretty fun game with rubber eggs put it miscellaneous places like your armpit or under your chin while trying to run around a table. Good times.

Saturday Chris and my brother spent all afternoon building the new shed and then I picked up Danny and we all headed out to a party at Amber's. There ended up being a bunch of us old camp friends there so it was good to see a lot of people we hadn't seen in a while all at one time. Amber and her family made us this 3 course meal on their massive king table that fit 14 people around it. We even got Malaysian chopsticks but I didn't know how to use them. Then we played a game in the grass but our team lost by a mere 3 points. Once a few people left the rest of us broke out Ticket to Ride which no one else had played so it took a while to get it going, especially with camp people who tend to all talk at once and not listen. But it was a good time. Amber gave us these cool "I Love Malaysia" wrist bands so we had to take a picture of it.

So there you have it people, those are our few weeks back in BC. They have been good and they will only get better as we go up to camp. We'll update once we get back!

Snap Happy

We were in Herbert this past weekend. Chris went to Kevin's bachelor party and I took grad pictures for his cousin and some engagement shots for Kevin and Alysha. It was good to be back at the farm one last time before all the craziness of moving begins. We head back to the farm this friday and then leave for our long drive to BC the next morning. Let the cleaning and packing begin! Here are some of my favorite shots that I took from the weekend. I took pictures for James' grad on Saturday when it was really sunny and they turned out pretty good. Then I took some of Kevin and Alysha the next day on a cloudy day and I'm really happy with how they turned out. They make me think I could actual be a photographer if I decide to go that route. Clouds are definitely a photographer's friend. Here they are...get ready for many of them because I couldn't just pick one or two out of the hundred or so that I took.
