Backpacking Experts

Well, the fun doesn't stop around these parts, except for going to work tomorrow, that's not so fun. I've finished editing the pictures of the couple I did a wedding for a few weeks ago. I think they turned out pretty good and they were happy with them so it all worked out. I also did an engagement photo shoot a while ago but I haven't finished those pics quite yet. Other than photo stuff I've been working, which has been tolerable but I'm looking forward to these three weeks being finished. I finally gave notice so now it's official that I'm done work on August 15th. We've already booked our campgrounds in Oregon for our trip up to Herbert so that makes it even more finalized that work will be done. This past weekend we headed up to Manning Park to do some backpack camping with Eric and Carmen. We decided to take a relatively flat trail because it was our first time hiking with big packs and I think that was a good decision. Overall we did about 16km of hiking in two days so I'd say that was pretty good for our first trip. Once we got to our camp we didn't pick the typical spot in the forest but decided to go with the little creekside rocky beach. Besides not sleeping because I heard a mouse all night and another animal that we suspect was a beaver, it was a pretty good spot. The boys set up a nice little table and chairs with some massive logs that were lying around all over the campsite behind us that we used to play games and eat our breakfast at. We hiked to 4 different lakes in total, getting to the last one took a little bit of bush whacking but we got there eventually just to realize it wasn't the nicest lake for the boys to swim in and that we were much more tired than we had thought. We spent the rest of the day playing games, eating, watching stars and talking and there wasn't anyone else around us for miles which was sweet. We headed back pretty early in the morning because we were all awake and it was starting to drizzle but it was a great 24 hour getaway and now I think we're ready for something a little bit more intense. Not too soon though, my body needs to recuperate from this hike first. Here's some pictures from our hike, there were many beautiful spots along the way...

This week Chris' brother Ryan is here so it'll be a fun-filled week and Chris will have a playmate so he won't be bored out of his mind all day while I'm working. Hopefully we'll do some fun things and it'll make the week go by fast so then I will only have two more weeks of work!

Summer Festivities

Summer seems to have officially arrived over in these parts and we've been taking advantage of it. A few weeks ago we spent the evening at Cultus Lake with Amber and Mark, the newlyweds. We spent some time snorkeling for treasures and then played "telepaths" which is basically a "how well do you think alike" game. We ended off the evening watching the boys chase geese and getting scolded by bird lovers. All in all it was a good time had by all.

I had a wedding shoot two weekends ago for an older couple. It rained all day so we took them inside a greenhouse which ended up being alright. I couldn't be extra creative though and so they're not quite as fun to edit for hours and hours as other pictures I've done. I'll get some up here once I'm done. I have an engagement photo shoot tonight for a couple that if they like these photos they will book me for their wedding next year. Also, on Thursday I'm meeting with a couple to book their wedding for next February. So it seems that business is happening for next year already, it seems like a lot of people are engaged for a long time before they actually get married. I didn't expect to get so many calls about next year already. But this is a good thing.

This past weekend we headed down to The Glen with Carmen, Eric, Sarah and Mike. The trailer was fixed up even more than the last time we were there in March. New curtains were up, new carpet laid and the additional room was all finished. Looking good Knowlsons, I know you read this because Carmen tells me that's the only way you can see what she's been up to. We enjoyed it very much. There was great weather so we spent as much time as we could outside playing volleyball, swimming, playing bocce ball, going to the river and making fires. The only thing that was bad was that it wasn't long enough.

Well time to go to work soon, only 4 1/2 more weeks and I'm done. It's more enjoyable now that I have my co-worker back that is actually not crazy but I'm looking forward to it being done. I'm sure it will fly by what with all the events coming up like going camping this weekend, Ryan coming in a little over a week and Josh and Cassie's wedding. Those things will make it better. Farewell friends, until the next time something exciting happens...
